Micro Herringbone Wool Blanket-Dark Chocolate and Brown
Our wool blankets are made from sheep born and raised, right here, on the ranch. Each spring, Anna and her daughter, Callie, anticipates and then welcomes approximately 130 lambs. Every lamb that is born is examined, numbered, checked over, and then made warm and safe with its mother. At almost a year old those lambs are shorn along with the rest of the sheep herd. Much of the wool from that shearing is then processed at a small spinnery and made ready to weave. The wool in these blankets, all from Harvey Ranch, is sent to varying weavers where the blankets are handwoven to Anna’s design specifications.
Anna Harvey has been a shepherdess most of her life. She grew up as a 4th generation shepherdess in a Basque/Scottish sheep ranching family. For the past 20 years, Anna has been breeding fine wool Rambouillet sheep along with Merino, and Romney sheep to achieve a wool blend that is soft, strong, and beautiful. Each blanket is a renewable resource and a gift from the sheep that live their lives happily in the beautiful Sierra Valley of Northern California. Thank you for supporting local sheep and their shepherdess.
We have our Dark Brown and Light Brown Micro Herringbone wool blankets at our booth at our local farmers markets. Please call or email if you are not in the area and would like to purchase this blanket.
